22nd Allround Games - small report

Inzell largoThe 22nd Masters’ International Masters’ Allround Games were held on 22 – 24 Feb 2013 in the Max Aicher Arena, the new icehall in Inzell/Germany. 182 Master skaters (40 Ladies and 142 Men) from 17 Nations (AUT 2, BEL 1, BLR 4, CAN 4, ESP 1, FIN 9, GER 29, ITA 9, JAP 2, KAZ 4, NED 57, NOR 36, ROU 1, RUS 13, SUI 5, SWE 1, USA 4) competed on good ice and reached good results. So 20 IMSSC Records from the IMSSC Records List 2012 were lowered by several skaters: Marja Smies-Oenema/F55/NED 500 m 46,17 sec, 1000 m 1:30,31 min, 1500 m 2:19,27 min, 4 distance combination (500, 1500/1000, 3000 m) 188,219 points; Gerdien Meijer/F45/NED 500 m 43,03 sec;   Jacqueline Munzel/F45/NED 1500 m 2:09,39 min; Martin Haakon Fagna/M80/NOR 500 m 55,29 sec*, 1000 m 1:51,71 min*, 1500 m 2:58,67 min, 4 distance combination (500, 1500/1000, 3000 m) 235,622 points (* = times already lowered three weeks before at the 16th Masters’ International Sprint Classics in Inzell); Toon Kooijmans/M75/NED 1000 m 1:34,01 min, 1500 m 2:24,82; Wim Brand/M70/NED 1500 m 2:17,49 min, 4 distance combination (500, 1500/1000, 3000 m) 186,941 points; Arjan Bakker/M50/NED 3000 m 4:04,59 min, 4 distance combination (500, 3000/1500, 5000 m) 163,832 points; Jan Duif/M50/NED 1500 m 1:56,89 points; Johannes de Groot/M35/NED 3000 m 3:59,45 min, 4 distance combination (500, 3000/1500, 5000 m) 159,135 points; Robert Binna/M30/AUT 3000 m 4:02,11 min. For the first time Mass Start Races were skated for the Men and Ladies, who could not do the 4th distance because of the restriction of the number of participants at the 4th distance. It was much fun. The first three skaters in the Races were:

 

Ladies (AG 35-55) 6 Laps: Irma Woud/NED 4:02,98 min, Anika Bédard/CAN and Iris Hanisch/GER. Men (AG 65-75) 8 Laps: Per Nygard/NOR 7:35,92 min, Bernhard Goosen/SUI and Bruno Toniolli/ITA. Men (AG 40-60) 8 Laps: Adriaan Provoost/NED 5:01,23 min, Aleksandr Kharchenko/RUS and Flavio Rigon/ITA. After the Drawing on Thursday afternoon there was the Welcome Drink where the participants of the competition met and talked about former and the coming competitions and enjoyed drinks and tasty finger food. The Victory Ceremony was held directly after the end of the competitions at about 15:00 – 16:00 in the middle of the Max Aicher Arena. At 19:00 started the Closing Banquet in the nice Festival Hall of Inzell with Bavarian outfit. After short speeches from Mr. Graf, Head of the Organizing Committee in Inzell, with thanks to the participants of the competition, Mr. Tjeerd Smies, IMSSC President, with thanks to the Organizing Committee for the hard work for organizing this competition, and Mr. Leknes from Stavanger/Norway, inviting for the 23rd Masters Allround Games in 2014 in Stavanger, the Bavarian Buffet was opened. During the evening a Band with tuba, concertina and guitar played nice Bavarian music.
