10th Single Distance Races – Hamar/NOR, Jan.18th and 19th 2014

Magne Teigen, Norwegian ISU Statistician, died Saturday September 12th at the University Hospital of Oslo. He reached 71 years of age. Magne will be known to you as the person who took the initiative to, and did all the basic compilation of, the complete results of all Masters Games from 1991/1992 until last season. These statistics were published on the IMSSC website this summer. Magne Teigen was a teacher by profession, but he dedicated much of his leisure time to speed-skating statistics and history. He was considered a true oracle. At the Congress of the Norwegian Skating Association in June this year, he was awarded The Golden Pin for his valuable work through more than 50 years. In addition to his work as a statistician, he has held many positions in the Norwegian Skating Association, both centrally and locally. Magne was short of stature, but he was towering in our minds. He was always present at all speed-skating events. He was modest of personality, but he will always be greatly missed in the speed-skating family. I had the pleasure to work together with him completing and publising the Masters Statistics. For now I will continue to improve the statististics and keep them updated with new results.
