Every skater knows what the end of the season is. Passed the period of responsible and important starts and you can just relax and race for your pleasure. So the Kolomna Ice crowns the season 2016/17 as icing on the cake. As always the competition consisted of two parts, the youth opened the program and then the high class was shown by the Masters. It’s always nice to see the starts of young guys, especially if in the mass-start three-time world champion Denis Yuskov support them. But enough about youngers, we talk about Masters.
Unfortunately, this year only a few skaters from abroad participated in Kolomna Ice. Few but strong! In AG 45 at long distances nobody can compared with Olaf Kotwa, and Master of the Sprint Games 2017 René van Bernum exceeded the world record in small all-round in AG 50. Russian skaters responded with an excellent world record of Sergei Mazein (AG 65) at 5000 m – 7.43,72 and several records among women on the sum of all-around was exceeded.
Perhaps for the first time in the world, relatives and friends of Masters could watch their races in a live broadcast organized by Sport Komplex Kolomna (http://kolomna-speed-skating.com/media/streams/667) and with qualified comments by champion of Russia Sergei Lisin and honored judge Sergey Bakanov. Special thanks for this innovation as well as for the excellent organization of the competition to the general director of the ice rink Sergey Orlov. My wife was happy!
I hope that next year, those who wishing to start in Kolomna will increase and hospitable Kolomna will always find something to pleasantly surprise their guests !!!
