Winter World Master Games 2015

On Sunday 29 September we received the shocking news that Jan Duif has past away.
Jan Duif was an early member of the Dutch Masters Speed skating organisation, the MCLN, and has participated in a large number of Dutch and international masters competitions during many years. In various age groups he was the winner of allround and sprint Masters world titles. In March 2013 he became world champion Sprint M50 in Salt Lake City and skated a number of world records in the 50 age category. Also on the 1.500 metres he holds the world record in this age group. Together with Vivienne he participated in the organisation of Master competitions in Hoorn, the Netherlands. With his daughter Rowan he participated in a large number of speed skating competitions not only in the Netherlands but also abroad.

In the first day, sunny and windy, 500m and 1.500m were skated by ladies and men, and in the second day, again windy but snowy, 1.000m and 3.000/5.000m. Many medals were awarded to all different categories, presented by famous Quebechian and Canadian skaters of the past. Now the short-track competitions are underway, in the same location.
