Thea Kroontje and Rene van Bernum lead Dutch Masters Cup
After the first Dutch Masters Cup of this season, which took place on Saturday 11 December in Enschede, Thea Kroontje in the ladies and Rene van Bernum in the men lead the ranking.
With not less than 49 participants for the men and 24 for the women, it was an extremely well-attended first edition of the Dutch Masters Cup of this season. Among them were also 4 participants from Germany and 1 from Belgium. Everyone was so eager to race together again.
In this Cup it is all about approaching the world record in the relevant age category. Whoever is closest gets the highest points. Skating a world record even earns extra points.
Thea Kroontje narrowly missed her own world record with the ladies L75 with 2.42.72 and therefore takes the lead in the ladies. Mijke Anne Kanneworff (L35) follows in second place. Monique Boerema (L60) takes third place. Number four and five among the ladies are Kaska Rogulska (L50) and Barbara Heerschop (L65).
Rene van Bernum (GER / M55) showed a particularly high level with his 2.01.38 in the 1,500m and therefore leads the men’s race. Next comes Bart Seffinga (M40). Kees Verdouw (M75) is in third place. Jann van Benthem (M65) and Jeroen Schoppink (M35) are currently the numbers 4 and 5 of the intermediate classification, in which anything still is possible.
Here you will find the intermediate rankings:
The next DMC is on January 15 2022 in Leeuwarden. The final DMC is on 12 February 2022 in Heerenveen.
