The ice rink in Berlin Hohenschonhausen is undergoing a renovation process. It was planned that the 400 m track would be operational again at the latest the end of this year. Unfortunately the renovation process is confronted with serious delivery problems of building material. In particular 40 km cooling pipeline, a very essential material.
The building management and management of the ice rink is Berlin is not able to tell when the whole renovation will be ready. During the last month I have been in contact with Rene van Bernum of Germany. Rene van Bernum has investigated an alternative and has been in contact with Hubert Kreutz, manager of the Max Aicher Arena in Inzell.
The Max Aicher Arena in Inzell is able to organize MSG2022 in the weekend of 29 & 30 January 2022, instead of the planned International Masters Sprint Classic. Based on this offer, the Board of the IMSSC has decided to move MSG2022 from Berlin to Inzell. The maximum number of participants is 200 and all participants must prove to be COVID19-free (via full vaccination or daily testing).
There will be a welcome drink on Friday 28 January and a closing banquet on Sunday evening 30 January for participants and officials only, depending on the COVID-19 at that time. The official Announcement of MSG2022 will be published as soon as possible on the IMSSC website.
