On September 21 2017, we lost a man, Hidekazu “I-Chan” Aizawa, who led Japan Masters Speed Skating members to International games. He was the first person who I spoke about Masters Speed Skating 9 years ago. Since then, 97 Japanese skaters have participated in International games of 10 cities in 6 nations.
He himself was one of the first Japanese Masters Speed Skaters who skated in Thialf 2010. He also participated in SLC in 2013, that was his last race. He was with us in Ginza this April, drinking together and talking about next trip to Italy and Moscow. It is very sad day today for Masters Speed Skating.
